EMDR Therapy

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy approach that helps your brain process and make sense of distressing or overwhelming experiences.

Sometimes past events do not fully resolve and continue to affect how you feel, react, or see yourself. You might notice certain triggers, strong emotional responses, or patterns that do not match what is happening in the present.

EMDR uses guided techniques, such as eye movements or other forms of back-and-forth stimulation, to help your brain reprocess those experiences. Over time, this can reduce the intensity of the memory so it no longer feels as overwhelming or disruptive.

The focus is not on talking through every detail, but on helping your system move through what has been stuck.

This approach can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, panic, and other experiences that continue to feel unresolved.

You might be noticing:

  • Certain memories or experiences still feel very intense
  • You feel triggered by things that seem small or unexpected
  • Your reactions feel bigger than the situation
  • You have a hard time moving past certain experiences
  • Anxiety or stress feels tied to something from the past
